What?

Dutch Bucket System. A variation of media-bed technique that breaks down the grow bed into a series of pots, plumbed in-line with one another.

Why?

There are a number of reasons why dutch-bucket method of hydroponics and aquaponic gardening is so popular!
  •  Grow large crops that do best spaced further apart than a standard grow bed can provide.
  • Easily expandable to handle more or less plants
  • Deal with pest management on a plant-by-plant basis- prevent sacrificing your entire crop due to one infested plant.

Flow-Through or Recirculating system?
Recirculating irrigation on your dutch-bucket system is the most common drainage option- it is also the most sustainable and easiest method to balance nutrient levels! In a recirculating system, the buckets are irrigated and drain into a return line, a PVC line at a tilt that brings water back to the reservoir for reuse.
