Jr. Aquaponic Gardener Field Trip
Students will get to be aquaponic farmers for the day! Students will explore the life-cycle of lettuce from seed to maturity through planting seeds, transplanting seedlings into an aquaponic system & harvesting mature heads of lettuce, using food-safety techniques. They will explore the world of aquaculture by feeding fish and talking about fish health and behaviors. The biological concepts of aquaponics will be learned through a fun and exciting game of "Nitrogen-Fixation Tag" on our great lawn. Water will be collected and sampled for nutrients and pH. Finally, students will be invited to sample the plants grown in our aquaponic garden in a garden salad at our Garden Bistro.
